Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard’s latest expansion pack for their massively popular World of Warcraft online game, has brought with it a huge number of changes. Raids are one area, and the Chamber of Aspects one such raid.

The Chamber of Aspects raid has, in my opinion, to be one of the most intriguing (and possibly vital) of the many raids available throughout Northrend.   Your strategic thinking will be tested beyond that required in many other raids, simply by the number of different options you’ll have available to complete it. Here, you will have the choice of going head-on in a single encounter, or taking on three optional encounters (mini-bosses) leading up to it. The key here is to decide whether you want to take out the three mini-bosses first.   Should you decide to go this route, the final boss will be less of a force and, therefore, somewhat easier to defeat. However, when making your decision, just bear in mind that there are different loot tables for each situation - including 10 and 25 man variations of the raid, and the different ways in which you may decide to take on the dragons (and the order in which you do it).   Getting onto the layout of the Chamber of Aspects, you will find a main room with three rooms surrounding it (to the left, right and rear of it, respectively); it is in the main room that the main boss, Sartharion can be found. As already suggested, you may go to this room first and take on Sartharion straight away or you can opt to take on the three mini-bosses one at a time, which will have the effect of removing abilities that Sartharion might otherwise use against you.

To elaborate on this, we come to the first mini-boss, Vesperon; able to cast a Shadow Debuff that will deal damage to anyone hitting him when he has a portal open, if Vesperon is not killed prior to you taking on Sartharion, he would also have access to this ability.   If the second mini-boss, Tenebron is not killed prior to you confronting Sartharion, he would also be able to summon multiple whelplings through the same portals.   The third and final mini-boss, Shadron, if not killed before your facing Sartharion, would also give the main boss use of a Damage Reduction Shield against you.

Decisions, decisions…   When you finally come to face Sartharion, you will be up against the main dragon (and any of the three others you haven’t killed - along with all of their buffs and debuffs). With no adds to assist, Sartharion turns out to be relatively easy to deal with; with all three adds, he is among the hardest raid bosses in the whole game.   In line with the level of difficulty you decide to choose, your loot tables will scale to the number of adds you fight against as well - the harder the fight, the better the loot you will get (the same is true for ten man loot tables in this raid).
