Since their first introduction to the masses, video games have become a cultural mainstay. Games have evolved from a two-dimensional realm with unrealistic characters to three-dimensional worlds that a player can immerse himself/herself into as a character in the story. Some of the most popular games have online play in which a player can interact with gamers from around the world. These Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG) charge a monthly fee for endless hours of play in a world that changes when they are away. The virtual world they play in is sustained by the game’s publisher.
A special aspect of the MMORPG is the ability to increase a character’s capabilities. Defeating monsters or other enemies increases the player’s skill level. To achieve high level skills, hours of play are in demand. The MMORPG captivates its players. In games such as Everquest, Dungeons and Dragons, or World of Warcraft, players interact with one another and socialize similar to how they would in the outside, non-video game world. They can join groups to complete campaigns or they may work alone on a different aspect of the game. The higher the skill level, the more valuable the character is in game play.
Some people develop their characters and then choose to sell their character. For example, when you buy a World of Warcraft account, a person can start from scratch.
